Ostara Advances CG P2X with New, Higher-Analysis Formula Delivering More than 2X the Plant-Available Nutrients

Higher nutrient analysis reduces tons applied and boosts ROI at equal cost per acre
Key Takeaways
  • Ostara today announced a major advancement in fertilizer efficiency with a new, higher-analysis formulation of its high-efficiency CG P2X fertilizer.
  • By keeping nutrients available to the crop rather than the environment, CG P2X helps reduce nutrient losses that can contribute to water quality impairment and other environmental challenges while maximizing the value of every applied pound.
  • The increased nutrient analysis enables growers to apply fewer pounds per acre, simplify logistics, and deliver more plant-available nutrients at an equal cost.

Ostara today announced a major advancement in fertilizer efficiency with a new, higher-analysis formulation of its high-efficiency CG P2X fertilizer. The increased 9-42-0 with 9 Mg analysis delivers nearly 30% more nitrogen and phosphorus while maintaining the product’s agronomic performance across diverse soils and growing conditions.

The increased nutrient analysis enables growers to apply fewer pounds per acre, simplify logistics, and deliver more plant-available nutrients at an equal cost.

“This is a meaningful step forward in fertilizer efficiency,” said Ron Restum, Chief Commercial Officer at Ostara. “We’ve concentrated more plant-available nutrition into every granule so growers can move less product, apply fewer tons and still get superior, consistent performance in the field.”

Consistent Performance Across Soils, Crops and Conditions

CG P2X has demonstrated reliable, repeatable performance across a wide range of soil types and environments, reinforcing its value as the superior fertility solution regardless of geography, crop, or management practice.

Across field trials, retail programs and on-farm use, growers consistently see:

  • Strong performance across diverse soil types and pH levels

  • Consistent results in both conventional, air seeding, and no-till systems

  • Improved nutrient uptake throughout the growing season

  • Consistent yield response driven by better nutrient utilization

More Nutrient Availability, Fewer Applied Pounds

CG P2X continues to deliver more than 2X plant-available nitrogen, phosphorus and magnesium compared to conventional phosphate fertilizers, where a significant portion of nutrients is lost to soil fixation, runoff and leaching. By keeping nutrients available to the crop rather than the environment, CG P2X helps reduce nutrient losses that can contribute to water quality impairment and other environmental challenges while maximizing the value of every applied pound.

With the new higher-analysis formulation, growers can now achieve:

  • 60–65% reduction in application rates versus MAP, DAP, NPS and TSP

  • More available nutrients delivered per acre at equal cost

  • Higher ROI through improved nutrient efficiency

  • Reduced handling, storage and transportation requirements

  • Reduced nutrient losses through fixation, runoff and leaching

Proven ROI Advantage Across Key U.S. Markets

Research across 151 trials has demonstrated a consistent yield advantage, translating to stronger returns on every dollar invested.

"No matter the soil, system or analysis, the outcome is the same: more consistent nutrient utilization and stronger crop performance," said Mike Howell, VP of agronomy at Ostara. “This new formulation amplifies that advantage by delivering more nutrition per ton, creating even greater operational and economic value for growers.”

CG P2X works differently than conventional fertilizers. Instead of dissolving rapidly and becoming tied-up in the soil or becoming vulnerable to runoff and leaching, nutrients are released in response to crop demand through natural biological processes.

As crops grow:

  • Roots naturally release organic acids that help unlock nutrients in CG P2X

  • Beneficial fungi, including mycorrhizae, actively seek out nutrient sources

  • These fungi solubilize nutrients from CG P2X and transport them back to the crop

This biologically driven nutrient exchange occurs throughout the entire soil profile – in, on and around – the crop, making CG P2X highly effective in broadcast, banded air seeding and no-till applications.

Built for Today’s Fertilizer Economics

By delivering greater nutrient efficiency in a more concentrated form, the new CG P2X formulation provides growers with a clear path to increased yield while reducing input intensity and operational burden. The updated 9-42-0 with 9 Mg formulation is available now.
